These are only a few challenges that Minecraft players experienced before this shiny, new, and expansive combat patch that was released. A lot of the Minecraft community was upset and had their doubts when Mojang "sold out". I feel that this update only enforces what Mojang had said in an article posted on their website. They said:
Please remember that the future of Minecraft and you - the community - are extremely important to everyone involved. If you take one thing away from this post, let it be that.
Today we are talking about what players can expect from the 1.9 update. Following this is a list of the most noteworthy items in the update:
There are 14 arrows based on potions which imbue a status effect when hitting a mob or player. The duration of the effect is 1⁄8 that of the corresponding potion, if applicable, and is not affected by the power of the arrow. The status effect is the same as the regular power effect for the potion.
The spectral arrow imbues the Glowing status effect for 10 seconds. The Glowing effect creates an outline of the target, which is visible through blocks, and colored based on the target's team (white by default). If a bow is enchanted with Infinity, spectral arrows will still be consumed.
MC-10 is bug where a huge mob that is forced into an area that is too small or when carrying an item that makes a mob follow you will make the mob glitch out of the enclosed area and teleport back in.
Some really interesting changes to combat mechanics are definitely going to make combat with ordinary mobs a bit more difficult. Having an attack cool down on swing will mean players will have to time their attacks and have to be more strategic in fights. To counter these harder mechanics, they added shields, special types of arrows, special attack types for both swords and axes, and last but not least the ability to dual wield.
There are some limitations to being able to dual wield though. When having items in both hands the item in your main hand will always take priority. For example, if nothing is in range and you attempt to swing a sword with your main hand while having a snowball in your off hand, you will throw the snowball. So in the case of dual wielding swords or axes it wouldn’t really help, but the power in that lies in wielding a bow and a sword. Another use for dual wielding items its being able to hold two stacks of blocks. Falling from great heights has been a major cause of rage quitting and loss of items. This epidemic has long been ignored until today!! With the new Elytra wings you can soar above the chaos below and glide from the highest peaks.
Now that summarizes, in my opinion, the biggest and most influential updates to a players game mechanics. The rest range from cosmetic changes to some new blocks and to of course removing Herobrine for 1,000th time.
That should wrap up my analysis of the Minecraft 1.9 update. I'd like to know your opinions and questions regarding this update! Let me know in the comments section below!
